A Brutal Beatdown on RAW Sets the Stage for Morgan’s Possible Long-Term Hiatus
Injuries can strike at any moment, especially in WWE. This week on RAW, WWE scripted a storyline that could lead to a lengthy absence for former Riott Squad member, Liv Morgan.
Morgan was effectively written off WWE television this week following a savage attack by Rhea Ripley. The assault was brutal, with Morgan convincingly portraying intense pain as she clutched her shoulder.
As The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported, WWE has incorporated the possibility of a long hiatus into Morgan’s storyline. At present, it’s uncertain whether she will require surgery. However, the severity of Ripley’s beatdown was designed to account for the possibility of an extended break, should surgery be necessary.
The report stated, “The Morgan injury came across more serious as Ripley attacked Morgan before their scheduled match and Pillmanized her shoulder twice and they showed Morgan crying in pain in a later segment as well. There is no time frame how long she will be out but if she does need surgery it would be lengthy and the angle was done to prepare for that possibility.”
While Morgan and her tag team partner, Raquel Rodriguez, are no longer WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Rodriguez might still land a significant SummerSlam match, even as Morgan steps away from the action.
As of now, it’s still being determined how long Liv Morgan will be sidelined. Interestingly, it’s reported that the shoulder she actually injured differs from the one Rhea Ripley targeted during the RAW attack. Fans and colleagues alike are hoping that surgery won’t be necessary.
