Kevin Owens Sets Ambitious Goal for Tag Team Title Reign with Sami Zayn, Aims to Rival The Usos’ Legacy

Undisputed Tag Team Champions Aim to Leave a Lasting Impact

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have shared an intertwined journey throughout their careers, dating back to their days in ROH and PWG. Now, as the Undisputed Tag Team Champions, they proudly defend their titles, driven by a desire to be mentioned in the same breath as the legendary duo, The Usos.

Their emotionally charged battle against The Usos at WrestleMania 39 captivated audiences from start to finish. Ultimately, Owens and Zayn emerged victorious, claiming the coveted championship titles and cementing their place as the new champions.

Since their title win, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have valiantly defended their belts, consistently delivering solid matches. However, the bar remains set high by The Usos, who holds the record for the longest reign as Tag Team Champions in WWE history.

In an interview with Alex McCarthy of Inside The Ropes, Owens, and Zayn discussed their current run as champions, with Owens expressing his aspirations to match The Usos’ remarkable legacy.

“The history between us adds an extra layer of significance to this championship win. From starting out together 20 years ago to now being in the main event together at WrestleMania, it’s a storybook-type thing. It goes beyond just winning the titles; the audience recognizes the journey and understands why it’s so special for us,” explained Zayn.

Owens shared his concerns before winning the titles, acknowledging the immense impact The Usos had during their reign. He expressed his desire to live up to their accomplishments, aiming to ensure that their own run as champions will be mentioned in the same breath as The Usos’ reign.

“We want to work hard and ensure that our run is talked about on the same level as The Usos’. They did incredible work, and we’re striving to match that. It has been a concern of mine because I believe they have been underappreciated for a long time. We’re giving our all to keep these titles at the forefront of stories and maintain their significance,” emphasized Owens.

As we eagerly await the future booking decisions for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, there’s no denying their current success as tag team champions. Their determination to make a lasting impact mirrors their impressive in-ring performances, solidifying their status as a formidable duo in the WWE tag team division.
