Despite a Decrease in Viewership, NXT Holds its Ground as the Second-Highest Rated Show on Cable
In its second week, WWE’s NXT Gold Rush continued to showcase its prominence on the cable charts, securing the second spot for consecutive weeks.
Wednesday night’s episode of NXT Gold Rush on the USA Network garnered an average of 622,000 viewers, representing a 19.5 percent decline from the inaugural week of the special. Notably, the premiere episode featured Seth Rollins defending his World Heavyweight title in a highly anticipated main event. Despite the drop, NXT Gold Rush’s viewership remains the second-highest since April 25, highlighting its consistent appeal.
Within the coveted 18-49 demographic, NXT held its ground, finishing as the runner-up in cable rankings with a 0.17 rating. Although down 26.1 percent from the previous week, this rating is tied for NXT’s second-highest in the demo since April 25. NXT has maintained its second-place ranking on cable for two consecutive weeks. Notably, NXT and the top-ranked show shared the same rating this week, with Love & Hip Hop edging slightly ahead in terms of viewership within the demographic.
While NXT experienced a decline in ratings across all demographics compared to the previous week, the most significant drop was observed among females aged 12-34, with a 45.5 percent decrease.
Comparing the same week in 2022, NXT showcased promising growth. The audience increased by 9.1 percent, while the 18-49 rating saw a remarkable surge of 54.6 percent. Notably, the only demographic category that witnessed a decline year-over-year was people over 50, down by 6.1 percent. These figures suggest that the NXT audience is increasingly skewing towards a younger demographic, indicating an appealing product for the newer generation of fans.
Despite the slight decline in viewership, NXT Gold Rush has solidified its position as a highly regarded show in the cable rankings. With its compelling storylines, talented roster, and continued dedication to delivering exceptional in-ring action, NXT remains a formidable force in the world of professional wrestling.
