Tracing the Legacy: Bayley’s NXT Character Leaves a Lasting Impression
Bayley, one of WWE’s top female Superstars, has successfully embraced her heel persona, relishing in the role that suits her so well. However, despite her villainous portrayal, it appears that a subtle remnant of her NXT character still lingers within her.
In her early career in NXT, Bayley captured hearts with her endearing “hugger” gimmick, exuding a lovable babyface aura. Accompanied by her signature inflatable huggers, Bayley ensured that fans wore a smile whenever she graced the ring.
The tide turned in 2019 when Bayley made her remarkable heel turn, marking the beginning of her evolution. Over the past four years, she has established herself as a formidable villain in the company, earning accolades for her performance.
During her appearance on WWE’s The Bump, Bayley reflected on her character development, acknowledging the lingering influence of her NXT days.
“There is a tiny part deep in there that still drives me, pushes me,” admitted Bayley. “It’s the little bit inside me that says it’s all worth it because I get very annoyed — I’m old and cranky. I’m getting too old for this nonsense, for these idiots that don’t believe in me, that can’t see me, and who think I don’t have what it takes.”
She further revealed, “But there’s a little, tiny piece of that old NXT Bayley in there that says, ‘It’s okay, man. It’s all worth it.’ ‘This is your dream. Just keep going, and do what you set out to do when you were 10 years old.'”
As Bayley gears up for the Money In The Bank ladder match, anticipation surrounds her potential victory and future championship reign. Fans eagerly await her next move, eager to witness the culmination of her relentless pursuit of success.
