Tony Chimel, the former WWE ring announcer, has been making waves in AEW in recent months. In an interview on ‘Refin It Up,’ Chimel shared insights into his transition to AEW and his enjoyment of the diverse roles he’s been playing in the company.
Chimel’s journey with AEW began when they started running live events. “Rafael Morffi is the one that got my foot in the door there,” Chimel said. He now assists Morffi, who handles multiple responsibilities within the company and takes on various roles himself. From marketing to production and even mentoring new talent like Lexi Nair, Chimel is enjoying the variety. “I do a little bit of everything, which is nice,” he shared.
Chimel also expressed his appreciation for the less stressful environment at AEW compared to WWE. “It’s a much happier area and a much happier place to be,” he said. He praised the approachability of Tony Khan, the company’s president, and expressed his overall satisfaction with his work at AEW.
