Bruce Prichard’s Take on Don Callis’s Short-Lived Stint as Cyrus in WWE

In the world of wrestling, personalities come and go, and the reasons for their departure can be as varied as the characters they portray. One such personality is Don Callis, who had a brief stint as Cyrus, the leader of The Oddities. Bruce Prichard, a former WWE executive and co-host of the podcast “Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard,” recently shared his insights on why Callis didn’t last in this role.

Prichard suggested that Callis might have been a victim of his own hype. He pointed out that it can backfire when a wrestler is pushed too hard and fast. In Callis’s case, Prichard believes that Chief J Strongbow’s strong push might have done more harm than good.

Another factor that Prichard highlighted was Callis’s perceived inability to get along with other talent. While Prichard clarified that he wasn’t sure if this was indeed the case, he acknowledged that the perception might have been enough to hinder Callis’s progress.

Despite these challenges, Prichard was quick to praise Callis’s talent. He described him as a nice guy with a lot of potential. However, he also admitted that Callis might not have fully connected with his role as Cyrus.

The Truth Commission, the group that Callis was part of, received a lukewarm reception, and Prichard thought that The Oddities could have been more successful. Interestingly, he noted that the Insane Clown Posse, a group he didn’t particularly like, seemed to work well with The Oddities.

In the unpredictable world of wrestling, success can be elusive, and what works for one person might not work for another. For Don Callis, his journey as Cyrus was brief, but his impact on the wrestling world continues to be a topic of discussion.
