Dakota Kai Suffers Torn ACL, Joins Liv Morgan on the Injured List
In the world of professional wrestling, injuries are an unfortunate part of the sport, and WWE Superstars are not immune to them. Regrettably, two injuries occurred during a recent match, affecting the trajectory of the women’s tag team division.
Previously, we reported on Liv Morgan’s shoulder injury, which led to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles being vacated due to her inability to compete. With Morgan out of the picture, one women’s tag team has been eliminated from the championship chase.
During a discussion on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Dakota Kai is now sidelined with a torn ACL. Interestingly, she sustained the injury during the same match in which Liv Morgan injured her shoulder, a clash involving Raquel Rodriguez & Morgan against Kai & Bayley for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles.
Meltzer provided insight into the circumstances, stating, “The injury took place in the same match on May 12 that Liv Morgan was injured in… The knee injury came in a spot where she knew Morgan was hurt and was trying to protect her.”
The extent of Dakota Kai’s absence from action is yet to be determined. The timing couldn’t be worse for the Damage CTRL stable, as it hampers their momentum and presents challenges moving forward.
Observing how WWE handles the booking of Damage CTRL in light of these injuries will be intriguing, particularly with only Bayley and IYO Sky remaining. The timing of the injuries coincides with WWE teasing the possibility of splitting up the stable, further complicating the situation.
As the week progress, the resolution of these injuries and the subsequent impact on the women’s tag team division will become clearer. In the meantime, WWE must navigate this hurdle and find ways to adapt its storytelling in the absence of key players.
