AEW Collision Ticket Sales Encounter Early Hurdles Amidst CM Punk Speculation

As AEW gears up for the introduction of their new show, Collision, in June, the company finds itself entangled in a web of drama surrounding this eagerly anticipated program. While CM Punk’s situation has been a topic of discussion, AEW has also encountered challenges in generating immediate interest in the ticket markets for their initial Collision broadcasts.

In light of the circumstances, AEW is contemplating a change in the debut episode’s location. Last week, AEW staff were informed that if they fail to secure CM Punk for the Collision premiere, Daily’s Place would be a strong alternative.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer delved into the ticket sales for the initial Collision shows, highlighting a potential need for AEW to step up their efforts in order to garner a significant response for their new program.

Meltzer shared his observations, stating, “I’ll tell you what, they don’t have a big buzz for Collision. They put three shows on sale, Toronto, Hamilton, and Newark. Newark has around 3,500 tickets sold, and for the New York market, that’s the weakest opening since they started going to the market.”

He continued, “Toronto has around 1,600 tickets sold, and that’s the day before the pay-per-view (Forbidden Door 2) that sold out instantly. Toronto is a great market, but the publicity surrounding it wasn’t known until Wednesday, and that’s not a positive sign. Hamilton has sold under 600 tickets, so the advances are really poor. It’s not a good sign.”

The absence of CM Punk from AEW’s Collision announcement fueled widespread speculation. After all, CM Punk was expected to be a focal point for the new Saturday show.

Following news of his reported issues with AEW, CM Punk took to Instagram to share his perspective through a series of stories. He even uploaded an alleged email exchange with Bryan Alvarez, in which Maria Kanellis was mentioned in an intriguing manner. Alvarez subsequently responded in kind, adding fuel to the fire.

The resolution between AEW and CM Punk remains to be seen. As of now, Punk’s involvement could certainly boost ticket sales for Collision. In the meantime, we must remain vigilant, as the ever-unpredictable landscape of AEW continues to evolve.
