Trish Stratus Questions WWE’s Decision to Ban the Word “Wrestler”

Published on

In the world of WWE, unique terminology is commonplace, with traditional wrestling terms often being replaced with entertainment-focused ones. However, one term that has been noticeably absent from WWE programming is “wrestler”.

“I love Tori Wilson and Stacy Keibler, but this is a wrestling….I don’t know why we don’t say wrestling for some reason. I don’t know why, because I’m a wrestler and we work for World Wrestling Entertainment. But yeah, I mean, I’d like to see, maybe a wrestler maybe get into the Hall of Fame next, maybe like Victoria would be great,” Trish stated during the podcast interview.

The replacement of the term “wrestler” has ignited a debate among both fans and industry professionals. While some view this shift as a potential threat to the sport’s legitimacy and the wrestlers’ hard work and dedication, others believe that it’s part of WWE’s branding strategy. By positioning itself more as an entertainment entity rather than a pure wrestling organization, WWE can attract a broader audience. As a highly respected figure in the industry, Trish’s comments have generated significant interest and discussion among fans and insiders alike.
