Injuries are a part of any sport, and professional wrestling is no exception. Unfortunately for AJ Styles, a broken ankle suffered last December has forced the former WWE Champion to take an extended break from the ring.

Styles had been on a roll, teaming up with the Good Brothers, before the injury derailed their momentum. Now, months later, PW Insider reports that Styles is still in the process of healing and has yet to return to training at the WWE Performance Center.

The delay in Styles’ return is certainly a cause for concern, as the veteran wrestler is already in the latter stages of his career. Fans can only hope that he will be able to make a full recovery and resume his successful run in WWE.

Of course, a lot has happened in the world of professional wrestling since Styles last set foot in the ring. With Endeavor now the company’s majority shareholder and a potential merger with the UFC on the horizon, the landscape of WWE may look very different when Styles eventually makes his return. For now, though, the focus remains on his recovery and return to the squared circle.
