The ongoing competition between WWE and AEW for signing top wrestling talent is no secret. In the past, both companies have managed to secure wrestlers from under each other’s noses. The latest addition to AEW’s roster, Komander, was reportedly on WWE’s radar before signing with Tony Khan’s company.
Komander put on an impressive performance in a match against Jay White on Dynamite, despite a few botches that White had to save him from. Dave Meltzer discussed Komander’s signing on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that it was a significant move for AEW as WWE was also interested in the wrestler.
“Komander signed, which was another big one, because obviously, WWE wanted him, and he is a guy with a lot of moves that are crowd-pleasing,” said Meltzer.
Although it’s uncertain how long Komander’s contract with AEW is for, it’s clear that Tony Khan was able to entice him with an attractive deal. Given Komander’s ability to connect with fans, as evidenced by his performance on AEW Dynamite in Pittsburgh, the wrestler has the potential to become a major star in the company.
It remains to be seen whether WWE will make another bid for Komander in the future. Nevertheless, AEW has a proven track record of showcasing talented wrestlers to their full potential, and fans can expect nothing less for Komander’s future in the promotion.
