It’s widely known that Kenny Omega is one of the top professional wrestlers in the world, which led to rumors of a potential move to WWE due to his contract situation with AEW. However, talks between Omega and WWE have finally been confirmed.
Tony Khan reportedly added the missed time from Omega’s lengthy injury layoff to his AEW contract, confirming that he is currently under contract with AEW. Omega himself added to the speculation about his future when he expressed uncertainty about staying with AEW following his incredible match with El Hijo Del Vikingo on AEW Dynamite.
During an interview with Haus of Wrestling, Konnan talked about booking El Hijo del Vikingo’s recent defenses of the AAA Mega Championship and disclosed that Omega had been in talks with WWE while negotiating with AEW.. He stated, “Originally we were going to bring in Omega but he was still negotiating with AEW and he wasn’t sure if he was going to stay or not. So, we couldn’t commit, and he didn’t want to come here until he signed.”
Kenny Omega also revealed why he ultimately did not sign with WWE in the first place. While we will have to wait and see if Omega ends up in WWE someday, with Vince McMahon back in the fold, it does seem highly unlikely now.
