McIntyre competed last Sunday at WrestleMania 39 in a hard-fought three-way match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Gunther and Sheamus. Despite his best efforts, McIntyre still needs to capture the title.

Tonight’s SmackDown will mark the first post-Mania episode and comes on the heels of the announcement of WWE’s merger with Endeavor-owned UFC into a new publicly traded company.
