Legendary wrestler Ric Flair recently shared his thoughts on a pivotal moment in his career – his first experience using a blade during a match. On Flair’s “To Be The Man” podcast, Flair opened up about the impact that moment had on him and the wrestling world.
Using a blade, or “blading,” is a technique in which wrestlers cut themselves with a small razor blade to create a gash on their forehead, adding a dramatic element to their performance. It’s a controversial practice that has been both celebrated and criticized throughout wrestling history.
Flair recalled his first time using a blade, which occurred during a match with Wahoo McDaniel in 1975. “It was a different time,” Flair said. “We were just trying to draw money and be as realistic as we could.”
