Mercedes Mone has been making waves in professional wrestling as the reigning IWGP Women’s Champion. In a recent Q&A at Planet Comicon 2023 in Kansas City, Mone shared her thoughts on working with NJPW as a free agent and her goals for the year ahead.

For Mone, the opportunity to wrestle for NJPW is still surreal, but she’s determined to make the most of it. “I really want to take this title all over the world and defend it everywhere, not just in New Japan,” she explained. Mone can compete in any promotion as a free agent, depending on the financial offer. “That’s the beautiful thing about being free,” she added. “I get to do everything, have many friends, and have funds come from many, many places.”

Looking ahead to the coming year, Mone has ambitious goals for her wrestling career. “My goal this year is to really take this [title] everywhere and to see who’s the best out there in the world,” she said. “There’s so many talented women’s wrestlers that I want to have the opportunity to wrestle. I’m just waiting for them to step up to the plate and challenge Mercedes Mone.”

In addition to wrestling, Mone is also pursuing acting and modeling opportunities. She recently signed with UTA and hoped to land more roles with The Mandalorian and Star Wars on Disney+. “I just want to keep on expanding my businesses and keep on being the CEO of everything,” she said.

With her sights set on global domination, it’s clear that Mercedes Mone is a force to be reckoned with in both the wrestling and entertainment industries.
