After fainting at NXT Roadblock, Roxanne Perez sparked concerns among the NXT Universe. Despite retaining the NXT Women’s Title against Meiko Satomura, the bout took a toll on the up-and-coming superstar.
Although Perez was training at the WWE Performance Center the day after Roadblock, WWE does not appear to be in a rush to book her for another match. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided some details on her current situation, stating that her problem is not physical, but NXT is still determining their next move.
Roxanne Perez possesses immense potential. She is young, passionate about wrestling, and has made significant progress, earning her a WWE contract in the first place. We hope Perez can return to the ring by Stand & Deliver, but there are indications that NXT is preparing a big ladder match as a backup plan.
“There is an injury angle going on with Roxanne Perez. Last week they had her collapsing in the ring, the same angle Shawn Michaels did in 1995 with Owen Hart which led to Michaels for the first time being a legit drawing card after. There is an undisclosed medical issue with Perez regarding her maybe not being available.
It’s not an injury or something that doesn’t allow her to wrestle, because she did the match with Meiko Satomura and was training after the match. But we’re told it’s possible she will need to take a very short time or a longer time off and the way the injury storyline was done covers them no matter what the determination is, which was supposed to be clear this week.”
