Davey Richards has faced allegations of domestic violence against him, prompting several wrestling companies to sever ties with him due to violations of their policies and codes of conduct. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported on Twitter that Richards had been accused of domestic abuse, leading to several companies cutting ties with him. Sapp also noted that he had spoken to St. Louis Anarchy, who confirmed they had released Richards due to a violation of their code of conduct. According to sources, Richards has denied the allegations of domestic violence against him in private conversations with multiple people.
Richards addressed the allegations of domestic violence against him in a public statement to PWInsider, where he stated that he strongly denies the accusations. He further stated that due to the “industry’s stance” on the matter, he is “canceling himself” and is retiring from wrestling after this weekend. Richards added that he did not want to be the person to damage the safety of shows, and thus, he was canceling himself.
Richards has been associated with Team Ambition Wrestling School, Prestige Wrestling, and St. Louis Anarchy, all of whom have severed ties with him. Team Ambition Wrestling School said in a statement that they would formally and permanently part ways with Richards, while Prestige Wrestling said they had cut ties with him effective immediately. St. Louis Anarchy announced that Richards is off their April 14th event, with a new main event to be announced.
At this time, Richards is still advertised for this weekend’s OTT and GCW events. According to PWInsider, Richards is also absent from MLW after finishing his obligations last month.
