According to a recent report by Fightful Select, The New Day, consisting of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E, have been together for almost a decade now, despite multiple attempts by Vince McMahon to break them up. McMahon, who was in charge at the time, made several attempts to split up the group, despite their wishes to remain together, as per multiple sources within WWE.
One such attempt reportedly came after Woods won the King of the Ring, with McMahon suggesting that Woods turn on Kingston, citing that it’s what a King would do. However, Woods reportedly fought against the idea of turning on his longtime teammate. McMahon also attempted to split up the group during the Draft, only to reunite them later.
The group also opposed a split when Kingston won the WWE Championship during “KofiMania,” despite McMahon’s pitch to break them up. Despite Big E’s recent hiatus due to a neck injury, the trio has remained together as a unit since their formation in mid-2014, even when they have been separated on different brands.
