In a heartwarming moment for the city of Winnipeg, hometown heroes Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho addressed the crowd after this week’s AEW Dynamite and Rampage tapings. According to PWInsider, Omega returned to the ring once the taping had ended, sitting there for a while before requesting a mic. He spoke about the importance of family and remembering where you came from, citing the show’s success and how it all began as a pipe dream. He even named some small Canadian towns where he had wrestled happily before reaching this point in his career and promised that they would be back again.
Jericho, too, had kind words for the fans in Canada, praising their support for AEW and reminding everyone how it all began in Winnipeg with his match against Omega. He brought out Omega and Don Callis, with Callis cutting a promo about his long career in the wrestling business and how coming back to Winnipeg with his friends and family under one roof was “a hell of a night.”
Jericho also touched on Winnipeg’s rich wrestling history, mentioning how he had watched legends like Hulk Hogan and Baron Von Raschke in the AWA 40 years ago. Omega closed the night with his signature lines and had the crowd singing “Judas” to end things on a high note. It was a special moment for everyone in attendance and a testament to the power of hometown pride.
