Matt Riddle became an instant fan favorite when he joined WWE in 2018. However, he has faced a string of setbacks lately. After failing a second drug test, he was taken off TV and has also been embroiled in social media controversies, including allegations of infidelity. As a result, WWE appears hesitant to invest in Riddle. According to Ringside News, the creative team will not discuss Riddle’s character until talent relations informs them that he can be pitched for again. Riddle’s most recent appearance was on the December 5th episode of RAW, where he was injured by Solo Sikoa after losing to The Usos. Riddle violated WWE’s Wellness Policy, which led to his absence from WWE programming. While he has completed rehab and dropped a video, it is unclear when or if he will return to WWE television. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE may no longer be interested in investing in Riddle.
“He’s been out of rehab for a long time, his suspension has been over for almost a month now – four weeks. It may be that they’ve just decided not to use him for Mania and not do anything with him, or maybe they just don’t want to invest in him.
I presume he’ll be back, but when he left they made a point of (saying) he was gonna be gone for six weeks, and we’re at about 11 or 12 weeks.”
