As one of the most accomplished stables in WWE today, Damage CTRL has carved out a formidable reputation. But like any successful group, they had to start somewhere. At SummerSlam, Bayley, IYO Sky, and Dakota Kai burst onto the scene and have been making waves ever since. However, they almost did so under a completely different moniker.
According to Bayley, during a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, she initially wanted to name the stable “The Now.” However, due to copyright issues, they could not secure the trademark for the name, so they had to change it.
It’s intriguing to imagine how things would have been different had Damage CTRL gone by “The Now,” but ultimately, the name change didn’t hinder their success. With or without a catchy name, they have proven themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the WWE. Nonetheless, the name they did settle on, Damage CTRL, certainly has a ring that fits the group’s image on the big screen.
