WWE fans, get ready for two epic pay-per-view events this May! According to a report by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, WWE has scheduled Backlash on Saturday, May 6, and King and Queen of the Ring on Saturday, May 27.
But wait, there’s more! The May 27 date falls on Memorial Day weekend, a traditional time for AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view in Las Vegas. While AEW has run on the Sunday of that weekend for the past two years, this year, WWE will be stealing the spotlight by hosting their event on Saturday.
Interestingly, Backlash won’t have the “WrestleMania Backlash” title it carried in 2021 and 2022. Nevertheless, it’s sure to be an exciting event, as WWE always puts on a spectacular show.
And that’s not all! WWE filed for the “King and Queen of the Ring” trademark back in December 2022, setting the stage for what’s sure to be an epic tournament. This event used to be a standalone pay-per-view from 1993 to 2002, but it has since been sporadically incorporated into WWE’s programming.
So, prepare for two unforgettable pay-per-view events this May as WWE brings its A-game to the ring!
