Sami Zayn would love to have a WrestleMania in Montreal

Hosting WrestleMania can bring significant excitement and revenue to cities that play host to the event. This has led to cities worldwide competing to secure the annual economic boost that comes with it. In the future, WWE might return to Canada to hold another show of shows.

WrestleMania 39 is scheduled at SoFi Stadium on April 1st and 2nd. While the company is already working on building the card for this event, fans from different parts of the world can’t help but hope that they will get their chance to host their WrestleMania.

During a press conference following Elimination Chamber, Sami Zayn was asked about the possibility of WWE hosting another WrestleMania event in Canada. Zayn admitted that he doesn’t usually discuss business matters with Triple H, the WWE Chief Content Officer, as it is beyond his pay grade. However, he did reveal that he spoke with Triple H about hosting WrestleMania in Montreal since “the secret is out.”

“As far as the passion of the audience, I think the secret’s out on Montreal now,” Zayn said. “Of course, I’m biased and I get a little extra love and all that stuff but every performer now knows it, feels it, knows the crowd is going to rule, they know the passions unmatched and now the whole world knows it because they see it on TV. They see what we just did out there, they see these fans standing on their feet for 10 minutes and they’re like ‘damn, Montreal crowd, man, Montreal.’

“So the words out. Somewhat biased but a world-class city in virtually every metric. Maybe not the Olympic stadium which may be a factor in the whole WrestleMania decision but I think it comes down to business stuff that’s above my pay grade. But I think it has nothing, nothing to do with the passion, because if you’re picking a city strictly on passion, Montreal has to be a top three contender, has to be.”

In Canada, WWE has organized two WrestleMania events so far. The first was WrestleMania VI, held on April 1st, 1990, at the SkyDome, while the second, WrestleMania X8, took place on March 17th, 2002, also at the SkyDome.

WWE has announced that WrestleMania 40 will be held in Philly, and it is likely to be a two-night event like the previous years. The two-night format has been successful for WWE, and fans in Canada are hoping to experience this grand spectacle as well.
