Kenny Omega was faced with a decision between joining WWE or the emerging AEW, and he ultimately chose to become a part of Tony Khan’s company several years ago. AEW even granted Omega the position of Executive Vice President, but his time with the company may be coming to an end.
According to Sean Sapp’s report, available behind Fightful’s paywall, there is a belief within WWE that they can lure Kenny Omega away from AEW. Despite the rivalry between the two companies, rumors of contract tampering allegedly involve Omega.
It was reaffirmed by a source that Kenny Omega’s contract with AEW permits him to make appearances in NJPW, as long as such commitments do not interfere with his responsibilities to AEW or if mutually acceptable terms are established between both organizations.
AEW is reportedly attempting to extend Omega’s contract significantly, but only time will tell if this will persuade him to remain with the company for the long term. Nevertheless, WWE sees acquiring The Cleaner as a significant possibility.
