Tony Khan’s love for professional wrestling is undeniable, but only some agree with how he has managed the company. Last year, allegations of contract tampering by WWE emerged and became an important topic of discussion.
Tony Khan addressed these allegations during a mandatory talent meeting at the Dynamite tapings, where he was reportedly “fired up” and spoke to top AEW performers, including The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Tony Schiavone. AEW’s Chief Legal Officer reportedly contacted WWE’s Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon regarding the allegations.
As reported, WWE approached multiple AEW stars with offers to join the company. During an interview on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, Tony Khan spoke about these allegations, stating that while he cannot confirm them independently, many staff and wrestlers of AEW have informed him of the alleged contract tampering.
I can’t really comment on what their (WWE) internal struggles, internal strife’s are because I don’t work there and I’m not there. I can only speak to the challenges we’ve had and I got a lot of wrestlers come to me and allege that WWE reached out to them to tamper with their contracts and ask them to break their contracts. I can’t confirm that specifically. I can only tell you what the wrestlers have come to me and said. But I’ve had multiple wrestlers and staff report that to me. It was very disturbing, and I’ve had to go out and try to put on good shows despite this alleged tampering, stuff like that. But frankly, I don’t think it’s stopped us because the quality of the product and the quality of the shows is at an all-time high right now.
