Baron Corbin never reached the summit of success in NXT before his promotion to the main roster. Similarly, he failed to reach the pinnacle of success on the main roster despite his victory in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and a Money in the Bank run. Unfortunately, his creative direction underwent another change, and he now finds himself on his own again.
Triple H and JBL have parted ways with Baron Corbin on RAW, and JBL won’t be appearing on WWE television for the time being. It remains uncertain what the future holds for Corbin, but Triple H determined their collaboration was not yielding the desired results.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has canceled the previous storyline, and Baron Corbin is set to embark on a new journey in his career.
“They gave up on it. Obviously, this wasn’t the plan. The guy in charge, that’s Paul (Levesque), felt it wasn’t working and that was it. Where they go with Corbin, I don’t know. It felt very much like a burial for Corbin…He’s had so many gimmick changes. There’s nothing wrong or right with him but in the pantheon of stars, he’s just not at that top star level. I think they wanted him to be at that level and they gave him every chance to be at that level. He’s just a guy. A tall guy but he’s just a guy.”
WWE has secured a long-term agreement with Baron Corbin, recognizing his versatility as a performer. Corbin has consistently shown his ability to make the most of every opportunity given to him. The future is uncertain for Corbin, but it appears that he will embark on the journey to WrestleMania on his own.
