After being targeted by Kevin Owens in a vicious attack on the August 8th, 2022, episode of WWE RAW, Ezekiel was removed from television and is no longer included on WWE’s official roster. He was taken to a medical facility for evaluation following a dangerous powerbomb he received on the ring apron. As a result of Ezekiel’s departure, the much-anticipated return of Elias took place last year.
Elias returned to WWE in October 2022 and gave an update on his brother’s health. He informed fans that they shouldn’t expect to see Ezekiel again in the near future.
In an interview with WWE Deutschland, Elias revealed that Ezekiel remains in a coma following the powerbomb. The entire family is holding out hope for a miraculous recovery.
“Yeah I gotta be honest with you. The boss is in way more contact with him than I am. He wants to know like when’s he gonna be back, how is he, everything like that. But the truth is all the reports I get is that he’s still in a coma.
He’s in the hospital recovering. Ever since he was taken out by Kevin Owens. I don’t know if you remember when the whole family was gathered by the hospital bed. I kinda keep my distance now to protect myself emotionally. It’s hard to see my brother like that. But all the reports I get say that he’s still in a coma, and we’re hoping for a recovery though.”
Since Ezekiel’s absence, Elias has kept busy, engaging in high-profile matches with Alpha Academy, Omos, and Solo Sikoa. This past Monday on RAW, he faced Montez Ford in a competitive match, although he ultimately came up short.
Elias began his wrestling career in 2007 with his debut on the independent circuit. Over the years, he has performed several promotions, including Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Ring of Honor.
