Pepsi paid WWE $1 million for Royal Rumble Sponsorship

Published on

A global audience watched the WWE-held Royal Rumble event in San Antonio. Bray Wyatt made a highly-anticipated return to the ring, contributing to the event’s financial success for the company.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE earned a million dollars from their Mountain Dew Pitch Black match, making it a worthwhile investment for the company.

Bray Wyatt emerged victorious in the high-stakes match; however, his tale continues. Uncle Howdy executed a spectacular dive from the Alamodome equipment, followed by a massive explosion. LA Knight’s future remains uncertain; only time will reveal what lies ahead.

“Well, you know the thing is that Mountain Dew one, that was a million-dollar deal. That’s significant money if you can get deals like that. It was a really crappy match though and they kept it short. I guess Pepsi has to decide whether it’s worth it to spend a million dollars to sponsor a crappy match, maybe it is. I don’t know, on a pay-per-view that was seen by two million people.”
