WWE NXT paid tribute to Jay Briscoe, who passed away in an automobile accident, live on air, and did more for him.
NXT scrapped a funeral segment with the New Day, as reported by John Pollock from Post Wrestling, at the last minute for this week’s show.
During this week’s WWE NXT, the New Day came out to the ring wearing suits, cut a regular promo, and were joined by Gallus and Pretty Deadly to set up a Vengeance Day three-way tag team match instead of performing any funeral segments.”
The NXT Tag Team Titles will be on the line in an action-packed three-way tag team contest at Vengeance Day on February 4th; despite an alteration made to the program tonight, the match was still able to be booked.
It was wise for NXT to change their plans for the New Day segment, as it would have been inappropriate to have them cut a light-hearted funeral-themed promo. Thankfully, they were able to adjust and avoid the situation.
Our deepest condolences to Jay Briscoe’s family, friends, and fans. Our thoughts also extend to everyone affected by this tragic accident, including the other victim whose identity has not been made public.
